Minutes dated January 4, 2016
Meeting was called to order by Councilor Rheault at 7:00pm at the Auditorium at the Roberta G. Doering School,
68 Main Street, Agawam.
Item A. Roll Call
Roll Call was taken with the following councilors present: George Bitzas, Cecilia Calabrese, Paul Cavallo, James Cichetti, Council President
Christopher Johnson, Gina Letellier , Joseph Mineo, Council Vice President Dennis Perry, Donald Rheault, Robert Rossi and Anthony Suffriti. With eleven present, there was a quorum.

B. Moment of Silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Councilor Rheault asked for a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Item C. Elections.
TE-2016-1 - Election of City
Council President
Councilor Mineo nominated Councilor Cichetti for Council President and Councilor Letellier nominated Councilor Johnson for President. Councilor Johnson was recently
appointed by the Governor to Chair a presidential search committee at STCC and felt he could not dedicate the time necessary to be Council President. He respectfully asked to withdraw
his name from nomination. Councilor Bitzas moved to close nominations which was seconded by Councilor Theroux.
The vote was 11 YES for Councilor Cichetti. Congratulations to the
new Council President James Cichetti. Councilor Cichetti declined to continue the meeting as Chair and deferred to Councilor Rheault.
TE-2016-2 - Election of City Council Vice President
Councilor Theroux nominated Councilor Mineo for Council Vice President. Councilor Bitzas moved to close nominations.
The vote was 11 YES for Councilor Mineo. Congratulations to the
new Council Vice President Joseph Mineo.
Item D. Selection of new seat assignments.
Numbers were drawn from a hat and councilors respectively switched seats.
Item E. Any other matter
that may legally come before the City Council.
All of the Councilors congratulated the newly-elected President and Vice President and wished them good luck.
Item F. Adjournment.
The
Motion to adjourn was moved and seconded all around the house. The time of adjournment was 7:07P.M.
