Called to Order: Meeting was called to order by Chairman Magovern at 6:15pm in the Auditorium at the
Roberta G. Doering School, 68 Main Street,Agawam.
' AGENDA
' 1. Approval of Minutes dated April 19,2018
Motion to approve the minutes was moved by Councilor Sandlin and seconded by Councilor Calabrese. The vote
' was 5 YES, 0 NO approving the minutes.
2. TOR 2018-7 - An Ordinance to amend Section 103-8 of Chapter 103 of the Code of the
Town of Agawam(Mayor Sapelli) (Two Readings Required)
The Solicitor presented the ordinance. Presently the fee is $200/tobacco sales permit fee. We currently have 38
businesses selling tobacco products. They are establishing a revolving fund to capture this revenue. Discussed the
septic installation fee of a $100 application fee and is recommended by the Health Agent. Most other communities
charge this fee and we currently do not. Health Agent conducts three inspections per installation. This goes into
the General Fund.
Motion to send a positive recommendation to the Full Council made by Councilor Sandlin and seconded by
Councilor Bitzas. The vote was 5 YES, 0 NO
3. TOR-2018-8 - An Ordinance to amended Section 49-7(c) of the Code of the Town of
Agawam (Mayor Sapelli) (Two Readings Required)
Mayor Sapelli presented this item stating he revamped the Law Office commensurate with the hours being put in by
the staff. Attorneys Buoniconti and Powers are putting in the hours to earn the salary and will also reduce the
' number of billable hours paid at$100/hour. Billable hours would arise for courtroom work and"special'projects.
Motion to send a positive recommendation to the Full Council made by Councilor Sandlin and seconded by
Councilor Bitzas. The vote was 4 YES, 1 NO(Councilor Bitzas)
4. Any other business that may legally come before the Committee.
