PROHIBIT LANDFILL AND RECYCLING PLANT TOWN OF AGAWAM a. 36 MAIN STREET AGAWAM, MASSACHUSETTS 01001 Tel. 413-786-0400 q�p MP March 21 , 1984 Dear Sir : The Agawam Town Council during their regular council meeting on March 19 , 1984 unanimously approved the following resolution : Resolution- Be it resolved that this Council in order to prevent a situation that would be detrimental to the health, well-being and quality of life of a large segment of our community, and to further foster a climate that would be conducive to the expansion of business and industry in the Town of Agawam, does hereby express its support of the existing federal , state and local environmental and land use controls that would effectively prohibit the use of the Meadow Street-Westfield River site known as the Agawam Meadows 1 for the location of a landfill and/or recycling plant of any nature . This resolution is further intented to republish , support and enhance the .July 15 , 1983 statement of the Council ' s Landfill Study Committee and the ,July 6 , 1983 opinion of the Commonwealth of Mass .
