Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 7, Section 401 requires that the Department
of Food and Agriculture (DFA) notify local Boards of Selectmen or City Councils
of the State's intent to purchase, rent, sell, or significantly change. the use of
' one or more acres of real estate in a municipality. Pursuant to that Section
we wish to inform you that DFA is- considering approximately �59 acres
o£.land within the Town of ._...Agr1m__ for inclusion in the. Agricultural
• Preservation Restriction (APR) program. The property, which is currently used for
agricultural purposes is privately owned and will remain so if it becomes a
participant in the APR Program. The development rights would be acquired for
.:: the preservation of the land for agricultural purposes as provided in M.G.L.
Chapter 132A, Sections 11A--D and Sections 31, 32 & 33 of Chapter 184. if you
have any questions regarding the proposed acquisition, please contact Christine.

Section 401 also requires that the proposal be made public in a local forum.
We request that you announce we are considering the above purchase for the stated-
purposes at your next regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen or City Council
Meeting. our names and number may be given should residents have further
questions. The Board or Council need not take any formal action concerning the
proposed acquisition; the announcement is for informational purposes only.
Please be so kind as to complete and return the enclosed form in the pre
addressed, stamped envelope after the meeting has been held so that we may
document your announcement.
