INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM
bFROM: John P. Stone DATE: July 22 1985
1 TO: Reed S. Charles Town Manager SUBJECT: Access to Senior Center
1 r access way t Senior
It would be feasible to construct an alternate s y to he Sen o
Center from Main Street. The most logical location for this would be at the
site of the former Dalton Funeral Nome. This parcel is large and land could
be taken for the roadway and still leave the parcel with sufficient land
to meet the requirement of the A-2 zone for the existing structure.
The parcel has enough frontage and area so that a second building lot could
be created. The taking for the roadway would in effect remove this capability
for a second lot and the damage therefore, per Assessor Bishop would be the
' value of the lot or $20,000 plus.
If the roadway could be built as a drive and not as. a street under sub-
division rules and regulation we would estimate the cost of the drive to be in
the order of $15,000 assuming DPW labor and equipment would be used for the
construction as much as possible.
' As the existing drive around the Senior Center site is narrow and
one way_, the proposed drive would need to branch to assure that the pattern
would be continued and traffic conflicts would not occur. A sketch is enclosed.
These estimates have been prepared without benefit of field survey and should
be considered preliminary only to give you and idea of the costs involved.
If you decide to go forward with the project we will need to do additional
survey work and refine the estimates before funding could be considered by the
Council .
