TR-87-24 001 RESOLUTION 002 A Resolution authorizing the Town Manager to sub- 003 mit a grant application under the Open Space 004 Program of the Massachusetts Department of Pub-- 005 lic Warms for purchase of the Development nights 006 of the Czerpak Farm located at 636 South 007 Westfield Street, Feeding Hills. ,�a�� 7 008 WHEREAS, on July 6, 1985, Joseph A. and Mary Ann 009 Czerpak, submitted an application to the Massachusetts 010 Department of Food and Agriculture's Agricultural ' 011 Preservation Restriction (APR) Program; and , 012 WHEREAS, the Department of Food and Agriculture 013 has determined that the appraised value of the property 014 is too high to be funded solely by the APR Program; 015 and 016 WHEREAS, the 60 acre Czerpak Farm is a viable 017 produce farm and one of the only wholely "pick-your- 018 own" produce farms in Western Massachusetts; and , ' 019 WHEREAS, 45 of the 60 acres of the Czerpak Farm 020 have been identified by the Soil Conservation Service 021 as being Prime Farmland or Farmland of State or Local 022 Importance; and , 02:ti WHEREAS, the farm was recommended for preserva- 024 nation in the Agawam Farmlands Preservation Plan; and, 025 WHEREAS, the Massachusetts Department of Public 026 Works will purchase the Development Rights of agri- 027 cultural lands through its Open Space Program; and, ' 028 NOW THEREFORE, the Town Council of the Town of 029 Agawam hereby votes to approve said submission and 030 authorizes the Town Manager to submit the Grant Appli-- 031 cation under the Massachusetts Department of Public ' 032 Works" Open Space Program for purchase of the Develop- 033 ment Rights of the Czerpak Farm located at 636 South 034 Westfield Street, Feeding Hills.
