MELCONIAN, STATE SENATOR AND MICHAEL P. WALSH, STATE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE TOWN OF AGAWAM'S SUPPORT FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE SPRINGFIELD ' MATERIALS RECYCLING FACILITY ' WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Town of Agawam to continue to promote responsible waste management by encouraging recycling; WHEREAS, the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility is currently operating at full capacity; ' WHEREAS, the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility presently recycles glass, metal and paper; tWHEREAS, the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility could process additional recyclable materials if funding became available; ' WHEREAS, plastics are one of the most commonly used household materials and the recycling of plastics would help protect and preserve our environment; and WHEREAS, funding is allocated to the Springfield Materials ' Recycling Facility by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; NOW THEREFORE, the Agawam Town Council does hereby resolve to notify in writing our State Senator, Linda J. Melconian and ' our State Representative, Michael P. Walsh that the Town of Agawam strongly supports the provision by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of additional funding to the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility for expansion of existing recycling efforts and the recycling of plastics.
