I A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PROPOSITION OF A
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROHIBITING THE
PHYSICAL DESECRATION OF THE FLAG OF THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
' (Sponsored by George Bitzas, Councillor)
WHEREAS, The Flag of the United States of America is a7
symbol of the greatness of our country and a source of pride to
all Americans; and
WHEREAS, Many brave soldiers have gallantly fought
under the stars and stripes banner and paid the ultimate
' sacrifice to insure its place above our great land; and
WHEREAS. We as proud Americans should stand together
t and lend our support to stop any form of desecration of our
flag; and
WHEREAS, The passage of a constitutional amendment
' prohibiting the physical desecration of the flag of the United
States is in the best interests of all the citizens of Agawam;
and
HOW THEREFORE, The Agawam Town Council hereby resolves
to support the proposition of a constitutional amendment by the
' United States Congress to prohibit the physical desecration of
the flag of the United States of America. and be it further
resolved that copies of this resolution be sent toi
( 1 ) Honorable John Olver, 1st Congressional District,
Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
(2) U. S. Senator Edward Kennedy, Massachusetts;
(3) U. S. Senator John Kerry, Massachusetts;
(4) Governor William F. Weld. Commonwealth of
Massachusetts;
