A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT
A MASS RELEAF GRANT APPLICATION ON BEHALF
1 OF THE TOWN OF AGAWAM TO THE
EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS
WHEREAS , The Town of Agawam has received information
concerning the availability of grant funds through the Executive
office of Environmental Affairs for the purchasing and planting ,,-_,
of shade trees; and
WHEREAS, The planting of shade trees in certain
locations in Town would not only enhance its aesthetic beauty,
but provide habitat for wildlife , reduce soil erosion, and
absorb carbon dioxide ; and
' WHEREAS , It is in the best interests of the citizens.
and the Town to submit a Releaf grant application to improve the
quality of the environment; and
WHEREAS The Releaf Grant Application Program is a 50%

matching grant program; and
WHEREAS , The Town' s contribution can be in the form of
in-kind service; and
WHEREAS, The Town' s grant application would not exceed
$10 ,000;
' NOW THEREFORE, THE TOWN COUNCIL hereby votes to
authorize the Mayor to submit a Mass Releaf Grant Application to
the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and execute all
understandings and assurances contained therein.
