C� C� SOLUTION AUTHORIZING A LOAN ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF
ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED FORTY-EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
($1,248 , 500. 00) DOLLARS FOR THE COMPLETION OF VARIOUS BUILDING
�,Aga- =W IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the following building improvement projects require
completion:
(1) Modification of the heating system at the Agawam__Junior
High School.

(2) Removal aid- replacement of existing underground oil,
storage tanks at the following school locations:
(i) Granger Elementary School;
(ii) Robinson Park Elementary School;
(iii) Phelps Elementary School; -
(iv) Agawam Middle School; and -
(v) Agawam High School.

(3) Cam letion of window block replacement at granaeg
Elementary School.
(4) Completion of the bleacher replacement in the main
gymnasium at the Aqslwam High Sch ol.
(5) Installation of T-1_digital_telephone ,li-nes_ and
equipment t4 provide service to the Agawam Hiqh Spool
and the Agawam Junior-High School
(6) Conversion of the existing heating system at the Agawam
Senior Center -from an electric system to a gas fired
system.
WHEREAS, the proposed modification of the heating system at
the Agawam Junior High School will involve changing the present
electric heating system to an oil/gas fired system, which will
result in substantial utility savings to the Town of Agawam. In
addition, existing worn components of the heating and cooling
delivery system will be replaced to provide better reliability,
service and economy; and
WHEREAS, the proposed removal and replacement of the
existing underground oil storage tanks at the schools listed
above is required by the laws of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts (M.G.L. Chapter 148) , and will help safeguard our
environment and allow the community to take advantage of bulk
purchases of heating oil during non-peak price periods; and

WHEREAS, the proposed completion of the window block
replacement in the rear wing at Granger Elementary School with
standard windows will result in lower maintenance costs and lower
heating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the proposed completion of bleacher replacement in
the main gymnasium at the Agawam High School will allow for the
elimination of unsafe bleacher sections, and added capacity for
patrons of functions and events in the gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, the proposed installation of T-1 digital telephone
lines and equipment to provide service to the Agawam High School
and the Agawam Junior High School will result in lower operating
costs and better quality service to those facilities; and
WHEREAS, the conversion of the existing heating system at
the Agawam Senior Center from an electric system to a gas fired
system will result in lower utility costs at that facility; and
WHEREAS, the completion of the various building improvement
projects listed above is in the best interests of the Town of
Agawam; and
NOW THEREFORE, the Agawam Town Council hereby resolves to
appropriate the sum of One Million Two Hundred Forty-Eight
Thousand Five Hundred ($1,248.,500. 00) Dollars for the completion
of the various building improvement projects listed above, and
that pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section
7, Subsections (3A) and (3B) , the Treasurer with the approval of
the Mayor is hereby authorized to incur debt in the amount of One
Million Two Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred
($1, 248,500. 00) Dollars to meet said appropriation.
