A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A CHANGE IN SIGNAGE FOR
THE MAIN STREET EXIT ON ROUTE 57 WESTBOUND IN
THE CITY KNOWN AS THE TOWN OF AGAWAH �

WHEREAS, state route 57 is a main thoroughfare in Agawam relied �.
' upon by businesses and commuters alike, and; n
WHEREAS, the current signs preceding the Main street exit on rxut
57 westbound are confusing to motorists unfamiliar wi'�
the area, and; t

WHEREAS, numerous complaints from residents and commuters about-
the signage have arisen over the years, and;
WHEREAS, a request for a change in signage from businesses alon-
' that portion of Main Street (state route 159 ) north of
state route 57 was received by the Town of Agawam
regarding- this matter .
NOW THEREFORE, The Agawam City Council hereby resolves to urge the
Massachusetts Highway Department to change the signage on
state route 57 prior to the Main Street exit from: -

and to forward copies of the request submitted to the
Agawam City Clerk by said businesses to the Massachusetts
Highway Department, State Senator Linda J . Melconian, and
