A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE FILING OF A SPECIAL ACT AUTHORIZING
THE PLACING OF A PUBLIC POLICY QUESTION ON THE BALLOTS TO
BE USED IN THE CITY KNOWN AS THE TOWN OF AGAWAM
WHEREAS,the owners of Riverside Park have requested the placement of a public policy
ballot question concerning casino gambling at Riverside Park on the biennial state election held in
November 1994, and
WHEREAS,the public policy ballot question concerning casino gambling at Riverside Park
is a non-binding question whose purpose is to ascertain the will of the people of the Town of
Agawam on this important issue; and
' WHEREAS,the placement of a non-binding public policy ballot question concerning casino
gambling at Riverside Park on the biennial state election held in November 1994 is in the best
interests of the Town of Agawam; and
' NOW THEREFORE, the Agawam Town Council hereby resolves pursuant to Section 8
of Article 89 of the Amendments to the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to
' request the enactment into law in substantially the same form the following home rule petition:
AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF A PUBLIC POLICY
QUESTION ON THE BALLOTS TO BE USED IN THE CITY KNOWN AS THE
TOWN OF AGAWAM
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and
by the authority of the same, as follows:
' For the purpose of ascertaining the will of the people of the city known as the Town of
Agawam, the state secretary shall cause to be placed on the official ballot to be used in the city
' known as the Town of Agawam at the biennial state election held in the year nineteen hundred and
ninety-four, the following non-binding question on Public Policy:

This question is not binding.
Shall Riverside Park, in the city known as the Town of Agawam,
be permitted to have a casino gambling facility on its property?
