TOR-2009-
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 61-1 OF THE CODE OF
THE TOWN OF AGAWAM INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE
AGAWAM VETERANS COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Agawam Veterans Council currently consists of seven
members of which six are residents of Agawam who are honorably discharged
veterans and the seventh is the Director/Agent of the Western Hampden District of
the Department of Veterans' Services;
WHEREAS, the Agawam Veterans Council- has requested that its
membership be enlarged to nine members to better assist the Council in. the
organization and implementation of veterans activities in the Town of Agawam;
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Town of Agawam to enlarge the
membership of the Agawam Veterans Council from seven members to nine
members; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE AGAWAM TOWN COUNCIL that
the following change be made to Chapter 61 of the Code of the Town of Agawam:
fz61-1 entitled "Membership; Apl2ointment." is hereby amended to read as
follows:
The Agawam Veterans Council shall consist of nine members. There shall be eight
residents of Agawam who are honorably discharged veterans of the armed services
who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Town Council. The ninth
member of the Agawam Veterans Council shall be the duly appointed
Director/Agent of the Western Hampden District of the Department of Veterans'
Services.
