TR-2010-,30 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY PURSUANT TO MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL LAWS CHAPTER 44, SECTION 53A TO BE UTILIZED BY THE AGAWAM FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS (Sponsored by Mayor Cohen) WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Town of Agawam Fire Department a grant in the amount of$165,845.00 for the purchase of self contained breathing apparatus; WHERAS, it is in the best interest of the Town of Agawam to accept this grant of funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security; and NOW THEREFORE, the Agawam City Council hereby resolves pursuant to M.G.L. c. 44, §53A to accept the grant in the amount of $165,845.00 from the United States Department of Homeland Security to purchase self contained breathing apparatus for the Agawam Fire Department. FEMA's Grant Programs Directorate (GPD), in consultation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), carries out the Federal responsibilities of administedng your grant. The approved project costs total to $165,845.00. The Federal share is 90 percent or$149,261.00 of the approved amount and your share of the costs is 10 percent or$16,584.00.
