In the Spring of 2012, the Town was notified that MassDOT would be advertising the
Riverwalk Loop Project for construction in the Spring of 2013. The construction project
will be funded with $2.4 million of State and Federal transportation funds. The
Riverwalk Loop Project consists of on and off road bicycle facilities connecting the
existing Riverwalk to Main Street and resulting in a 5 mile loop.
The Town has been working with the engineering firm, Fuss & O'Neill who have
prepared the construction plans and the bid specifications for this project. It is the
Town's responsibility to obtain the necessary construction and permanent easements
along School Street. All affected property owners have been contacted and of the 67
easements, 36 have been donated. Appraisals of the remainder of the easements
have been completed. The Town will use Chapter 90 funds to pay for these
easements.
All easements must be obtained pdor to the State advertising this project.
