A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM COMMONWEALTH OF
MASSACHUSETTS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
PURSUANT TO MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL LAWS
CHAPTER 44, SECTION 53A TO AGAWAM EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

WHEREAS, the Town of Agawam applied for and received a grant from
the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency; and
WHEREAS, the Agawam Emergency Management desires to accept said
grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant is in the amount of one thousand five hundred
eighty-nine and 001100 ($1,589.00) dollars;
WHEREAS, Agawam Emergency Management will use the funds to
purchase necessary emergency management supplies; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Town of Agawam to accept theCD

grant from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
NOW THEREFORE, the Agawam City Council hereby resolves pursuot �,
to M.G.L. c.44, §53A to accept this grant from Massachusetts Emergen
Management Agency.

AD HOC CASINO COMMITTEE OF
THE AGAWAM CITY COUNCIL
(Sponsored by Councilor Donald M. Rheault)
WHEREAS, there is a casino resort and hotel being proposed at the Eastern States
Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, the proposed casino resort and hotel could impact the residents and
businesses in the City of Agawam; and
WHEREAS, the residents and businesses of the City of Agawam should be informed and
their needs and concerns should be expressed during this process; and
WHEREAS, the Agawam City Council has been invited by Chairman Brian Griffin to
work in conjunction with his West Springfield Town Council Casino Mitigation Committee:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Agawam City Council hereby
resolves to establish a five-member Ad Hoc Casino Committee consisting of three (3) City
Council members, one (1) resident of the City of Agawam and one (1) local business person.

1 was invited to and recently attended the Big E/Hard Rock Media event on
Friday, January 11`h. Following the presentation and after a discussion with
several top West Springfield officials, I decided it was in the best interests of
the citizens of Agawam to form an Ad Hoc Committee.
During the event, I approached our Council Administrative Assistant and
instructed her to place an item on our next Agenda to create this committee.
Please see the attached Resolution. Thank you.
