Dear Agawam City Councilors:
The Friends of the Agawam Senior Center has raised $10,000 to support the
Nutrition Program at the Agawam Senior Center. This is part of a Federal Program and
part of the funding comes from Federal Grants. Additionally, local businesses and non-
profits including Six Flags, the Greater Springfield Senior Services and the Local Area on
Aging Agency provide support to the Nutrition Program. Local donations, from business,
non-profits and residents, are an important part of maintaining these services.
Currently we serve meals to over 160 people five days a week. The Nutrition
Program is lauded by those served via Meals on Wheels and the seniors who dine daily in
our cafeteria. The present donation from the Friends of the Agawam Senior Center will
be crucial in defraying costs to our seniors. Their donation will help to continue this
important and popular program here in Agawam.
During my eight years as Executive Director I have been delighted as our
Nutrition Program continues to grow year after year. I am also thrilled with the support
we have received from the community. With your support we can continue to maintain
delivery of these services to our seniors.
Thanks you for your cooperation in this important matter!
Sincerely,
Joan Linnehan o
