A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING FROM THE COMMUNITY PRESERVATION FUND
AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF COMMUNITY PRESERVATION FUNDS
FOR THE PRESERVATION, REHABILITATION AND RESTORATION OF HISTORIC
RESOURCES, THE SCHOOL STREET BARN
WHEREAS, voters of Agawam voted to forma Community Preservation Committee; and
WHEREAS, one of the Committee's functions is to fund Historic Preservation and to the
Rehabilitation/Restoration of historic sites; and
WHEREAS, The School Street Barn, Agawam, Massachusetts has been designated an historic
site; and
WHEREAS, the School Street Barn is in need of preservation and rehabilitation
WHEREAS, the School Street Barn is a central feature of the School Street Park
WHEREAS, The School Street Barn project needs to be re-phased to keep the project moving
forward within the originally established budget
WHEREAS, the Community Preservation Committee has recommended that the Agawam City
Council appropriate and expend the amount of Thirty Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Forty
Three Dollars and no cents ($37,743); and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Agawam to appropriate from the community
preservation fund and authorize the expenditure of community preservation funds for the
preservation and restoration of the School Street Barn, Agawam, MA;
NOW THEREFORE, the AGAWAM CITY COUNCIL hereby resolves, appropriates, and
authorizes the expenditure of Community Preservation Funds in the amount of
Thirty Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Three Dollars and no cents ($37,743); from the
Historical fund balance for the preservation and restoration of the School Street Barn, Agawam,
MA; and
The AGAWAM CITY COUNCIL hereby further resolves that the Mayor is authorized to expend
said funds, as permitted by law, and to do all things necessary for the purposes so stated.

A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES PURSUANT TO M.G.L.c.54 s.34

WHEREAS, Trustworthy elections are basic to democracy; and
WHEREAS,the total number of voters in the Town of Agawam is 21,760;and
WHEREAS, trustworthy elections require that each vote is anonymous, secure,verified by the voter and counted as
intended by the voter;and
WEHREAS,the currently used Accu-Vote machines were purchased by the Town of Agawam in 2003;and
WHEREAS,the current Accu-Vote voting machines ceased being manufactured in 2007;and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has been informed that servicing the machines has become more difficult as parts
become more difficult to obtain;and
WHEREAS, as a result of the age of the Accu-Vote machines many communities have or are in the process of
acquiring updated machines;and
WHEREAS, Massachusetts General Law Chapter 54, Section 34 requires a vote of the City Council authorizing the
use of new voting machines;and
WHEREAS,the City Council must approve the use of the new voting machine 120 days before their use;
WHEREAS, the current Accu-Vote machines will be used for the last time for the September 8,2016 State Primary
Election; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk must forward a "Notice of Determination" to use an approved voting system to the
Secretary of the Commonwealth;and
WHEREAS,it is in the best interests of the Town of Agawam acquire new voting machines.
NOW THEREFORE, THE AGAWAM CITY COUNCIL hereby resolves to authorize the use of the
