TR-2016-78 WASTEWATER APPROP TR-2016-78 A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE WASTEWATER RETAINED EARNINGS ACCOUNT TO THE GENERAL FUND Sponsored by Mayor Richard A. Cohen Whereas,the Agawam City Council appropriated funds from the Reserve Fund Number 16605-57300 to the Wastewater Professional Services Fund Number 22542- 52190 in the amount of$269,875.00 by means of TO-2016-30; and Whereas,TO-2016-30 was approved by the Agawam City Council on September 19, 2016 and approved for passage by Mayor Richard A. Cohen on September 20,2016; and Whereas,the Agawam Department of Public Works utilized the funds from TO- 2016-30 for the emergency replacement of the sewer main on Main Street; and Whereas,the emergency basis of the sewer work on Main Street necessitated the transfer of funds as listed in TO-2016-30; and Whereas,the contracted work for the emergency replacement of the sewer main on Main Street has been completed and under budget. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Agawam City Council hereby appropriates the sum of two hundred and sixty nine thousand and eight hundred and seventy five dollars($269,875.00)from the Wastewater Retained Earnings Account to the General Fund for reimbursement for the emergency replacement of the sewer main on Main Street. Golba—Superintendent September 15,2016 The funds being requested far transfer are for the emergency repair/replacement of a critically failing 12-ineh clay tile sanitary sewer main in Main Street. The emergency repair/replace of the sewer main will consists of constructing a new I 2-inch PVC sewer main to by-pass the impacted area,the depth of the new main will range from 10 feet to 12 feet. The total new sewer will be approximately 442 linear feet in length and will involve the installation of two new sanitary sewer manholes. The proposed work is necessary to preserve the health and safety of the public due the risk of the sanitary sewer main collapsing and causing sewer backups in people's homes, and also a sanitary sewer overIlow that would negatively impact the waters of the Commonwealth.
