Dear Mr. Conte:
This letter is a follow-up to the Community Assistance and Program
Evaluation (CAPE) meeting that was held in your office on March 31, 1983.
The purpose of this meeting was to review enforcement procedures under
Agawam's floodplain management regulations as part of the town's participa-
tion in the National Flood Insurance Program.
I am pleased to note that although there is littel pressure for new
development in the special flood hazard areas, town officials have a clear
understanding of the requirements of the NFIP and Section 744 of the
Massachusetts Building Code and is in compliance with both.
As of December 31, 1982 there were 119 flood insurance policies in
effect covering property values totaling $5,152,700.00.
The Department of Environmental Management would like to thank you
for your cooperation at this meeting. If you have any further questions
regarding the NFIP please call me at 617-727-5804.
Sincerely yours,
Sheldon Shapiro
