Approved by Agawam Planning Board: September 19,2013 which now reads: The unit rate of inspection fee levied shall be $1.20 per linear foot measured on each of the four categories cited above. The total inspection fee shall be equal to the unit rate times the total footage of each line category of inspection (roadway, water, sewer and drain lines) as measured by the City Engineer. Golba • Superintendent MEMORANDUM Christopher Golba -DPW Supt. July 15,2013 Subdivision Inspection Fee As requested by the Planning Board, The Department of Public Works has reviewed the subdivision inspection fee to see if any change is required due to inflationary changes. The inspection fee was last set by the Board in 2009 at $1.20 per linear foot. We have looked at the average CPI value for 2012, which has increased since the fee was last set in 2009 and feel that the fee should be increased to reflect that change. The proposed change in the subdivision inspection fee as outlined in the Town's subdivision code, to be increased to $1.28 per linear foot (a 6.6% increase). $1.20x CPI(2012) = $1.20 x 229.594 =$1.20xI.066=$1.279 Sa $1.28 CPI(2008) 215.303 ' y Consumer Price Index (CPI) yearly average data from: l'-l'P-III,"!,? HI.s GOY/PUB/SFI ICl Al RI;QIJI,'S]'S/CPJ {ePIAI 'lXI' The proposed inspection fee increase is an adjustment of the existing fee by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to bring it up to the 2012 average annual level. The CPI is an accepted inflation index, and as Section 159-7-H- (6)(b) of the Town Code specifies, inflation is a warrant for increasing the unit inspection fee. Golba • Superintendent MEMORANDUM Christopher Golba -DPW Supt. February 3, 2012 Subdivision Inspection Fee As requested by the Planning Board, The Department of Public Works has reviewed the subdivision inspection fee to see if any change is required due to inflationary changes. The inspection fee was last set by the Board in 2009 at $1.20 per linear foot We have looked at the CPI value for 20 II, which has increased since the fee was last set in 2009 and feel that the fee should be increased to reflect that change. The proposed change in the subdivision inspection fee as outlined in the Town's subdivision code, to be increased to $1.22 per linear foot. $1.20x CPI(2011) =$1.20x 224.939 =$1.20x1.045 = $1.254 Sa $1.25 CPI(2008) 215.303 ' y Consumer Price Index (CPD yearly average data from: FfP:/IFfP.BLS GO\' !PUB/SPECI;\LREQUESTS/CPI/CPIAI.1XT The proposed inspection fee increase is an adjustment of the existing fee by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to bring it up to current level. The CPI is an accepted inflation index, and as code specifies inflation a warrant for increasing the unit inspection fee. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
