Engineering has DO issues relating to the proposed changes to the loading dockat Stop and Shop. We have
provided Jones Lang LaSalle with the attached schematics of street signs that need to be replaced and they
have agreed to implement our request in the project plans. We requested that Stop and Shop update these
signs to maintain compliance with the original site plan and to comply with current MUTeD and
retroreflcctivity requirements.

I have not~d that the project includes erection of a canopy / roof above the loading dock to be
constructed. Please be advised that NFPA 13 "Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems"
requires that covered platforms, loading docks and similar areas be protected by a system of
automatic sprinklers.

It appears that the letter from the Fire Dept. references the site plan not showing sprinkler heads under the loading dock
canopy. I'm confirming that the signed and stamped plans that Erik had me drop off at the Fire Dept., for their review, do show
sprinkler heads to be installed under the canopy. This is noted on drawing section FP10l, of the full plan set.

s.f. landing and ramp, and a 300 s.f. platform. Excavation entails (5) 4' deep footings to support pilasters
for loading dock extension. Existing asphalt pavement will be excavated to install footings. Projected
construction will not increase any impervious surface area. Gutter system on new canopy roof will utilize
eXisting drainage.

In 1992-1993, Baystate Environmental Consultants, Inc. (BEC), A GZA Company,
prepared site plans for the development of a new Stop & Shop supermarket in
Agawam, Massachusetts. These drawings were prepared for The Richmond Com-
pany, Inc., and were submitted to the Town of Agawam for local approvals. The
BEC site plans were subsequently utilized for the construction of the supermarket.
BEC has been asked to provide a letter of authorization for others to utilize these
plans for purposes other than originally intended. It is our understanding that Stop
& Shop wishes to use the prior site development plans to assist them in describing
to the Town of Agawam some proposed minor improvements to the supermarket
consisting of ramps and handrails in the shipping and receiving areas.
BEC does not object to the historic site development drawings being used as an aid
in describing new work at the facility; however, we must point out that the infor-
mation shown on the site development drawings was for BEC's client to com-
municate what was intended to be constructed, and the drawings mayor may not
depict what actually was constructed. Any transfer, reuse, or modification to
BEC's drawings by BEC's client or others is at the user's sale risk and without
any risk or liability to BEC or to GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
