Re: Site Plan -Dog Park -Shea Field
I have reviewed the site plan for the Dog Park located at Shea Field and have only two
concerns:
I. The gates at the main entrance should be self-closing in type so as to prevent an
errant dog from leaving the park unattended.
2. "No Parking" signs should be placed along both sides of the access road along
Shea Field to prevent users from parking there and allowing passage on that roadway.

The Agawam Dog Park is planned to be constructed at Shea Field. The construction will take
place in the woods on the north side of the access road that connects Robinson Park Elementary
School and the Shea Field parking lot. The park will be divided into two separate areas for small
dogs and large dogs with play and exercise elements incorporated into both areas. There will
also be a small pavilion in the park, paved walking areas, picnic tables, and benches for dog
owners.
Once this plan is approved by the Planning Board it will be sent to the Stanton Foundation for
approval. The Stanton Foundation is the main source of income for the project providing 90% of
the funding. We will then have Berkshire Design prepare construction drawings and prepare bid
documents. A contractor will be chosen and construction should take place late this summer.
