Stone,DPW'Supt.l File From: Engineering,, Date: November 29, 2007 Subject: Final Walkthrough- 1Hillside Development Corp. - 1154 Springfield Street -SlP 512 l. an Tuesday November 27, 2007, a member from Engineering performed a final walkthrough for the subject site. The developer will be raising an'existing DN4H frame and cover to grade. This DMH is situated at the front edge of the tree belt directly in front of the project. Two new on-site C13's are tied into this DMH. All issues relative to Engineering regarding the subject site have been addressed. 2- At the entrance to the subject site, storm waters are creating a puddle. This puddle is located partly on the new cement concrete apron and partly on Springfield Street. Engineering is currently working with the developer regarding this situation. A possible alternative to raising the DMH frame and cover referenced in Item 1 above might be to convert this DMH into a CB. Field surveys by Engineering are presently being conducted in'the area of the entrance. This is to determine if this conversion might help the puddle situation along the apron. if not, other possible remedies will be looked at. We note the following: l The subject site has been designed with start parking stalls This could be somewhat restrictive to vehicular traffic when utilizing the stills from the driveway aisles. Accessing the rear of the proposed building will be difficult when the stalls in that area are filled.. Engineering suggests making the reap of the building one-way for vehicles with, the addition of an "ENTRANCE C / rO TRUCKS L D" sign at the southeast comer of the proposed building and..a "DO NOT ENTER' sign at the southwest corner of the proposed building. Fire trucks may not be able to a=ess the rear of the proposed building 2 The plan should indicate where the roof drainage/do"spouts will be located and directed:_ 3. Engineering -recommends the addition of a cleanout in the extended sanitary sewer service. Include size and type of this extended service. 4. As per Agawam DPW Deputy.Supt., new fire and domestic services need Separate connections frorn the existing water main in Springfield Street. Indicate size and composition of new water services. Show on plan if the existing water service is to be abandoned or otherwise. 5 Add notes "water service to have minimum foot burial to trap of pipe", and "sanitary sewer service to have minimum 4 feat burial to tops of pipe".. 6. The proposed durnpsterlocation may prevent truck access/adequate turn-around area. 7. The proposed parking and driveway design does not allow for,any snow storage during the winter months. 06/2112007 13:30 FAX 413 31 @003/003 B. The proposed cement concrete sidewaLks are to have detectable warning panels where they meet the entrance/cxit drives. Include crosswalk lines t1wre'also. Add a stop sign and Stop bar at the exit drive. 91 The proposed site plan shows the removal of some of the existing monitoring wells. It is assumed that the monitoring wells were put in to determine if the pre-existing gas tanks leaked. Does the owner have a statement from the DEP stating if is ok to remove the monitoring wells? 10 As per the D.P.W. Superintenden4 before a drainage connection will be allowed, the applicant must demonstrate that the public drainage system will have enough capacity to handle the increase in runoff that will result from the proposed changes on The site.
