Dear Mr. Sandman;
At its duly called meeting held on January 18, 2007, the Agawam Planning Board voted to
approve the Site Plan entitled"Bridge Shopping Center at Agawam, Massachusetts for Allen M.
Heflin, Briston, Connecticut"prepared by Donald S. Gilman and dated August 29,2006. In so
approving, the Planning Board finds that all Site Plan requirements have been met. Approval of
the use for transient parking must be approved by the Board of Appeals. The Planning Board's
parking guidelines for retail use is as follows:
Retail Sale Sale5, Trade or Merchandizing exce t Furniture Stores
One and one-half(1-1/2) parking spaces for each two hundred (200) square feet of gross
leasable area up to ten thousand (10,000) square feet and one (1)parking space for each
two hundred (200) square feet of gross leasable area over ten thousand(10,000) square
feet.
Using this formula,the Rocky's store of 13,000 square feet should have 65 parking spaces. The
actual parking spaces provided is 158. Attached you will find comments received from both the
Agawam Engineering Department and the Agawam Safety Officer.
