I have spoken to George Bitzas regarding the use of the fire station as the site. I am pleased to offer our station
as the location for this monument.
I advised George that Dig Safe will need to be called due to the planned digging for the monument footings. We
have an in-ground sprinkler system which may need to be moved prior to any digging. I also suggest that the
planning board verify that the monument will be on the city property as the state boundary is near the sidewalk.
The areas where the benches and planters will be placed need to have a pad which will allow easy access for lawn
mowing and upkeep. The sidewalk leading into the monument should be decorative paver brick if possible.
The monument should be kept lighted all night. Our personnel are housed in the rear of the building and zannot
monitor the area.
